Gazelle Next Van

Inside, the Gazelle Next Van offers adequate room for 16 passengers. Its fabric seats, while not the plushest out there, are decently cushioned and very easy to clean, effectively fulfilling their intended purpose. However, its seats are better suited for shorter work commutes or travels than full-on long-distance touring because of its lack of lumbar support. On the plus side, the Next Van comes with an air-conditioning system (with rear A/C vents).

Aside from that, this light commercial vehicle is equipped with an integrated 2DIN audio unit that offers an AM/FM radio system, USB and AUX inputs, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. Its audio unit is linked to front and rear speakers, allowing passengers to enjoy an entertaining ride. Meanwhile, the driver has access to an analogue instrument cluster that displays the low fuel warning light, an electronic multi tripmeter, and the tachometer. 

That said, like most Gazelle vehicles in the country, the Next Van’s cabin prioritizes practicality and functionality more than anything else. At the end of the day, it still delivers a more modern and passenger-friendly experience than traditional jeepneys and old UV Express vans.

In terms of dimensions, the Gazelle Next Van measures 6,415 mm in length, 2,513 mm in width, and 2,837 mm in height. This 16-seater light commercial vehicle also has a wheelbase of 3,745 mm and a ground clearance of 170 mm.

Right off the bat, it is obvious that the Gazelle Next Van’s design focuses on functionality.  Its utilitarian fascia is defined by a functional grille with vertical slats, a rugged bumper finished in black, and a large windshield for great visibility. It ensures great illumination wherever it goes, thanks to its large halogen headlamps and fog lights.

Furthermore, its side profile, which resembles Euro-style vans with high-roofed frames, are enhanced by rectangular character lines, blacked-out finishes, and a robust-looking set of 16-inch wheels wrapped in radial tyres. Meanwhile, its functional personality carries over to the rear. While it may not be the most aesthetically-pleasing vehicle out there, the Gazelle Next Van still looks more modern than many traditional public utility vehicles in the country.

The Gazelle Next Van comes with a Leaf Spring suspension both at the front and rear. Thanks to this setup, it is able to deliver decent absorption of bumps and other minor road imperfections in the city. The chassis also enhances this van’s load-carrying capacity. While it does not offer the most plush experience, the Next Van can still deliver a pliant and fairly comfortable ride for your daily commute.

Powering the Gazelle Next Van is a 2.8L 4-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 150 hp of maximum power and 330 Nm of maximum torque. This light commercial vehicle comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission system.

Plenty of torque is available when driving at full capacity or tackling steep inclines in the provincial areas. The Next Van is capable of bringing you to your destination on time without exerting much effort. That said, it is a capable and reliable people-mover out on the open road while remaining efficient even in constant stop-and-go traffic conditions.

In terms of braking, the Gazelle Next Van comes with discs at the front and drums at the rear. Its braking setup is supported by an anti-lock braking system, which is always a plus when it comes to commercial vehicles. This van is also equipped with parking sensors, side impact beams, an anti-theft device with an engine immobilizer, a seat belt warning, an engine check warning, a door ajar warning, as well as a crash sensor.

In my opinion, the Gazelle Next Van sets a strong benchmark for modern public utility vehicles in the country. It provides businesses, authorized fleet operators, and government agencies with mobility that is practical, reliable, and road-capable.
