In today’s time, when everything is going downsized and turbocharged, the naturally aspirated V8 in the Lexus IS seems to be a miracle. There’s something very satisfying about the linear, immediate power delivery—it’s visceral and predictable, unlike other turbo engines in high-end cars that fade and surge. With the Lexus IS, I get an unmistakable V8 growl that keeps on building as the revs climb. The seats are supportive, the cabin is refined, and even over poor pavement, the ride quality is forgiving. It is far more entertaining and agile than its German counterparts.
