Its fabric seats, though not the softest, provide good cushioning and ergonomics for both the driver and the co-pilot. Upfront, it has a dashboard, which is already dated for modern standards. For entertainment and information accessibility, it comes with an integrated 2DIN audio unit that offers AM/FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, as well as USB and AUX.

In terms of dimensions, the Wuling Sunlight Cargo measures 4,985 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,975 mm in height. It has a 3,050 mm wheelbase and runs on a robust set of 15-inch wheels, which are capable of withstanding the unpleasant road conditions of Metro Manila.

In terms of suspension, the Wuling Sunlight Cargo utilizes a McPherson independent type at the front and a Longitudinal Leaf Spring at the rear. This suspension setup allows this light commercial EV to have a pretty agile maneuverability despite its size. For a workhorse, it is light and comfortable to bring even for novice riders. It also absorbs bumps pretty well and delivers relatively responsive handling when turning or cornering. 

The Wuling Sunlight Cargo runs on a single Permanent Magnet Synchronous motor that generates a maximum power output of 82 PS and a maximum torque of 220 Nm. Its electric motor is mated to a 41.9 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery pack that delivers a CLTC pure electric cruising range of up to 300 km and a fast charging time of 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes. It runs on a single-speed fixed gear ratio gearbox and utilizes a rear-wheel drivetrain.

This light commercial EV has just enough power and torque to handle steep roads and overtake slower vehicles on free-flowing highways. Thanks to its driving range, it is capable of taking on shorter-distance trips out of town. But, it is important to plan ahead before taking this outside the city, where charging stations are limited. Additionally, it delivers great efficiency even when passing through bumper-to-bumper traffic in Metro Manila. 

In terms of safety, the Wuling Sunlight Cargo is equipped with front and rear parking radars, driver’s airbag, and a low speed warning. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system and braking force distribution. It has a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

In my opinion, the Wuling Sunlight Cargo is one of the most practical and cost-efficient commercial EVs in its price range. It is a great choice for business owners who are hauling cargo on a daily basis because it is not only environmentally-friendly and cost-efficient, but also reliable and durable enough to withstand the country’s inconsistent road and weather conditions.
