BMW CE 04

For starters, the BMW CE 04 measures 2,285 mm in length, 855 mm in width, 1,150 mm in overall height, and 780 mm in standard seat height. This electric maxi-scooter also comes with a 1,675-mm wheelbase.

Appearance-wise, the BMW CE 04 looks smart and sporty at the same time. At the front, it features a confident-looking full-LED headlight assembly, giving it a distinct facade on the road. This maxi-scooter comes with a small transparent windscreen and conventional-looking mirrors finished in black. 

On the sides, it flaunts a two-tone profile, which is complemented by a pair of 15-inch cast aluminum wheels. The BMW emblem is also placed on each side, proudly showing its identity wherever it goes. Additionally, it comes with sturdy combination lamps and a reflector at the back.

Up front, the rider gets a large 10.25-inch TFT colour display that offers BMW Motorrad Connectivity services. Practicality-wise, this electric maxi-scooter also comes with a side loading compartment with lighting, as well as a ventilated storage compartment with a USB-C port for your mobile phone. 

Aside from that, its saddle offers decent cushioning and support for short commutes and leisure trips. However, its narrow frame and thin cushioning may compromise comfort on longer trips. But, to be fair, this maxi-scooter is designed for short city commutes and is not a touring motorcycle in any way. Overall, the BMW CE 04’s design offers a mix of style, practicality, and modern functionality.

The BMW CE 04 is equipped with Single-Bridge Telescopic Forks at the front and a Single-Sided Swinging Arm at the rear. This setup is credited for this electric maxi-scooter’s confident handling on sharp turns and challenging twisty roads. It also absorbs light bumps and other minor road imperfections decently. While it may not offer the lightest and most comfortable ride in its segment, the CE 04 can still deliver a pleasant and pliant riding experience for both the rider and the pillion.

The BMW CE 04 runs on a permanent magnet liquid-cooled synchronous motor that generates 31 kW (42 hp) of maximum power and 62 Nm of maximum torque. Feeding its electric motor is an 8.9-kWh (gross capacity) battery pack that offers a 130-km WMTC range and supports fast charging time of 0 to 80% in just 65 minutes. This electric maxi-scooter comes mated to a single-speed automatic transmission system. It is also equipped with three riding modes: Eco, Rain, and Road.

That said, the CE 04 is exceptionally quick off the line. Its electric motor offers smooth, instantaneous power delivery, allowing the rider to cruise at high speeds effortlessly. It is a treat for spirited riders, boasting an acceleration time of 0 to 50 kmph in just 2.6 seconds. In addition, for sensible riders, its range is adequate for daily city riding. However, it is better to plan meticulously before using this on out-of-town trips.

In terms of braking, the BMW CE 04 comes with double discs with a 4-piston fixed caliper at the front and a single disc with a single-piston floating caliper at the rear. Its braking setup is supported by BMW Motorrad’s anti-lock braking system. Additionally, this electric maxi-scooter is also equipped with an electronic reverser, an intelligent emergency call (ECALL) system, as well as the brand’s Automatic Stability Control (ASC).

In my opinion, the BMW CE 04 sets a good standard for future-ready premium two-wheel mobility in the city. It balances riding enjoyment with everyday usability for both spirited riders and daily commuters.
