The sci-fi styling of the BMW CE 04 draws admiring glances at traffic lights. This e- motorbike has significantly more potential than suggested by its around-town marketing. I tested this motorbike in all kinds of diverse riding situations—from rush- hour gridlocks to off-peak suburbs—in a range of 20 to 60-mph zones, both with and without a pillion. It is heavy and big. Acceleration is smooth, progressive, and accompanied by all kinds of electrical humming noises. It is definitely not the most silent motorbike.
