BMW F 750 GS

The BMW adventure tourers have a characteristic design language as a modern and rugged motorcycle with asymmetric front fascia, and the F 750 GS is one perfect example of it. The BMW F 750 GS looks like a proper adventure tourer from the word go, with the tall and lean stance, minimalist bodywork and large wheels coming together to make this look purposeful.

At the front, the asymmetric front fascia of the BMW F 750 GS comprises of a unique-looking all-LED headlamp. Sitting within a sturdy-looking wide cowl, the BMW F 750 GS has a wide and tinted visor above it, while the housing of the headlamp has LED turn indicators mounted on its sides. Apart from a traditional front mudguard, the BMW F 750 GS also gets a body-coloured beak attached to the chin of the front fascia, which merges with the wide fuel tank extensions, giving the motorcycle a semi-faired look.

The side profile of the BMW F 750 GS looks even more aggressive and purposeful, with the motorcycle having a muscular-looking fuel tank attached with wide tank extensions that are part of the semi-fairing of the motorcycle. The rest of the motorcycle looks minimalist, with the BMW F 750 GS missing out on traditional side body cowls, while it comes with a fully exposed silver-themed engine below the fuel tank and subframe below the seats. The side-mounted two-into-one exhaust of the motorcycle is placed at a height to match the purposeful appeal of the BMW F 750 GS.

The rear section of the BMW F 750 GS looks compact, with the pillion seat of the motorcycle having a tiny LED tail lamp and a large pillion grab rail behind it. This grab rail also serves as the mount for the top box, while also having mounts for panniers on the sides. The BMW F 750 GS gets black alloy wheels as standard, with no option for sturdier spoke wheels, which slightly reduce the off-roading capability of the motorcycle.

The BMW F 750 GS also comes with an adjustable handbrake lever and clutch lever and a part-digital instrument console as standard, however, there is an option of a 6.5-inch full-TFT instrument console for an added cost. The other optional feature on offer for the BMW F 750 GS includes daytime running LEDs. However, we would have loved to see these features as standard for a motorcycle this expensive.

Sturdiness is the word for overall hardware on offer for the BMW F 750 GS, with the motorcycle based on a bridge-type steel frame and a suspension combination comprising 41mm telescopic forks at the front and cast aluminium dual swing-arm with a central spring strut, which has preload and rebound adjustability. Both the front and rear suspension offer 170mm travel, and are accompanied by two riding modes – Rain and Road.

The BMW F 750 GS also has electronic suspension adjustment, and two additional riding modes – Dynamic and Enduro and Gear Shift Assistant Pro offered as optional extras, which further make the riding experience more sophisticated. Riding on 110/80 R19 front and 150/70 R17 rear tyres, the BMW F 750 GS has dual 305mm discs at the front and a single 265mm disc at the rear for braking.

The BMW F 750 GS comes with a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline-twin, 853cc engine, which was an upgrade over the engine of its predecessor, the F 700 GS. This engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission and churns out a maximum power output of 77 bhp and a peak torque output of 83 Nm. BMW Motorrad claims a top speed of 190 kmph and fuel economy of 23.8 kmpl.

For safety, the BMW F 750 GS comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS and dynamic traction control as standard, though for an optional sum, one can further equip this motorcycle with keyless ignition and tyre pressure control.

The BMW F 750 GS might be on the verge of its life cycle, but it still is one hugely capable motorcycle for long-distance touring and mild off-roading. It is decently equipped with modern electronics, and packs in a powerful powertrain and a capable chassis making it a durable motorcycle with big-bike appeal.
