Flying the flag: car logos that carry their country’s colors

We Filipinos celebrate the National Flag Day every May 28. That said, it’s fitting to look at some car brands whose logos have some relation to their national flags.

So, without further ado, here are the automotive companies with emblems that resemble their country’s colors.

Nissan

At one point, Nissan’s logo showcased a red circle at the back of the brand’s name. The silhouette of which can still be seen on the marque’s updated logo.

Nissan is a company that is currently based in Yokohama, Kanagawa.

It is famous for cars like the Nissan GT-R, Patrol, and Skyline.

Ferrari

The colors of the Italian flag can be seen on the Ferrari emblem, which are green, white, and red.

Sitting proudly atop the prancing horse, the luxury sports car maker has roots in Maranello, where it is still headquartered.

Ferrari’s notable creations include the F40, Testarossa, and Roma.

The Italian brand also has strong ties with motorsports, being one of, if not the, oldest Formula 1 teams in the series.

Porsche

Of German origins, Porsche’s emblem sports the color of its country’s flag. The blacks and the reds blend perfectly with the gold tones of the company’s crest.

In the middle is the famous Porsche horse with the script “STUTTGART,” which is the carmaker’s headquarters.

Porsche is notable for the 911 and the Carrera. Nowadays, it is blazing trails in the new-energy segment with the likes of the Taycan.

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo is another Italian-born auto brand. While it may not display the country’s famous hues, it does carry part of the Milanese war flag: the biscione, which is sometimes called the vipera.

At the time of writing, Alfa Romeo is currently based in Turin — a city in northern Italy.

The company is famous for the Giulia Quadrifoglio and 33 Stradale. Some of its cars also had their roles in pop culture with the GTV6 and 159 both appearing in Bond films (Octopussy and Quantum of Solace).
