Isuzu Crosswind: Changes we want to see in the MPV
Contents

Isuzu is one of the most successful automobile manufacturers in the country. Its lineup is quite popular in the regional market and Isuzu Crosswind is no exception.

The Crosswind has got a history of its own. It was first manufactured in 1991 for the Southeast Asian market and was named as the Panther. It was designed to sustain the heavy blows and rugged usage. Later, it was brought in the Philippines monikered as the Hi-Lander and was finally renamed as the Crosswind in 2001. Since then it received a few revamps which changed the way it looked, and how comfortable its interior is. However, no major upgrades were brought in over these years. The present generation of the Crosswind has come a long way, but it still lacks a whole bunch of elements that we would like it to have. Following are a few changes that we want to see in the MPV.

Exterior

It would not be fair if we did not point out that the Crosswind now looks better in its adolescence when compared to its teenage years. The latest generation has got blacked-out features and parts, that really helps in modernizing the vehicle.

What new we will like to see here: Maybe, an optional projector or LED headlights, electronically controllable outside rearview mirrors, and a new design for the tail light.

Interior

We understand that the Isuzu Crosswind is an MPV, it would have to deal with a lot of beating on a daily basis. But that does not mean that it should not have any luxury inside its cabin. And by luxury, we do not mean leather-wrapped steering or heated seats.

What new we will like to see here: Well thought out storage compartments, better utilization of the overall available space so that even after using the third row of seats for seating purpose, there is still an adequate amount of boot space left to keep things, automatic climate control, push start/stop button.

Engine

Isuzu continues to use the same old, but reliable, 4JA-1L Direct Diesel Injected Turbocharged Engine in the Crosswind. It churns out 85 PS of max power at 3,900 rpm and generates a peak torque of 185 Nm at 2,000 rpm. It has served Isuzu loyally for years.

What new we will like to see here: A new engine which has more power and is much more refined in terms of both vibrations and noise.

Safety features

In today’s world where new technological innovations are being done daily to enhance the safety of the occupants of a vehicle, Isuzu seems to not care about the safety features at all. The Crosswind does not offer even a single airbag. This is a sad reality. Most of the cars are coming with at least driver and passenger side airbag as standard.

What new we will like to see here: At least, the driver-side airbag should come as standard, and two or more airbags should be provided as optional.
