2016 Hyundai Elantra Revealed in Korea

MANILA: The Korean brand Hyundai has lifted the covers off its Elantra 2016 which has been a successful compact sedan to sail in its sixth generation. Known by the name of Avante, in Korea, this 2016 Hyundai is way more advanced and polished than its predecessor.

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra has same wheelbase of 2700 mm while gain 20 mm of length, 25 mm of width, and 5 mm of height. Hyundai has basically followed European theme to keep its new Elantra, sleek, smart and simple. The long headlights with hexagonal grill dominate the front profile while the side profile highlights sloped roofline with window line that kicks upward. The rear profile has a new small duck-tail spoiler integrated into the trunk with relatively similar tail lights as of the Elantra 2015.

The extended dimensions of Elantra 2016 assures spacious interiors along with ample head room and legroom. A new multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel, an 8-inch display for the infotainment system for top spec models, an optional 8-speaker JBL sound system, alloy pedals and driver oriented dash are some of its highlighting features inside. The interior door panels get a makeover and the armrest get a pocket. The center console is tilted towards the driver which reflects a driver oriented approach.

The engine line-up for Korea includes a 1.6-litre turbodiesel, a 1.6-litre gas engine with an optional LPG conversion and a 2.0-litre engine. The 1.6-litre turbodiesel produces 120 PS while the 1.6-litre gas engine deliver 136 PS and the top of the line, the 2.0-litre engine generates 149 PS. The output for 1.6-litre gas engines with LPG conversion is reduced to 120 PS. All the engines are paired with either a six-speed manual of a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The safety in 2016 Hyundai Elantra is intact as it come with seven airbags, smart cruise control, smart high-beam assist, lane departure warning, and other standard driver assist systems like anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control. The global launch of 2016 Hyundai Elantra is slated for Los Angeles International Auto Show in November.
