2018 Mercedes-AMG GT-R Makes Global Debut at Goodwood

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the much awaited AMG GT-R at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It is the powerful sibling of AMG GT that was recently launched by the Auto Nation Group Inc. at Mercedes-Benz Greenhill showroom. Now, Mercedes GT-R has been the hot topic of auto junkies chat group for long now and that's mainly for two reasons -
First because of its title resemblance with Nissan Godzilla, the GT-R
and, second because of its great configuration that makes it both energetic and light

It was in November 2015, that we showed you camouflaged Mercedes GT-R and informed about its 2016 global debut. As expected the car is out at the scheduled point of time and it’s time now to see what all this Merc GT-R carries that makes it so special.

Body Structure

1. Merc GT-R weighs 90 kg less than GT S, indicating towards the fact that it would run faster than rest of its siblings.

2. Another factor adding to its speedy skill kit are its new active aerodynamic components. Like the one installed below its front lip spoiler, rear wing spoiler and diffuser.

Exterior

1. At the front, is present eye catchy attributes like AMG inspired Panamericana grill, sharp set of headlights, well-contoured bonnet, and wide front splitter.

2. Moving sideways, we find prominent wheel arches housing Michelin Pilot Cup 2 19-inch and 20-inch tires at the front and rear end respectively. Also, its sloped roofline enhances both its look and aero flow.

3. At the rear end are present impressive attributes like sleek taillights, rear spoiler, and wide windscreen.

Interior

1. 2018 Mercedes-Benz has a well-crafted sports car-like cabin ambiance.

2. It has AMG performance bucket seats that are wrapped in Nappa leather, dynamic upholstery and also has AMG bold yellow tagging on them.

3. What further enhances its look is the yellow thread work that runs around the entire cabin area from the center console to centre tunnel, and from car seats to the door panel.

4. In a way, we can say that GT-R center console resembles that of GT-S, it showcases same standing touch display, circular air con wings, and a broad transmission set up in the tunnel area.

Under hood configuration

1. Another way in which GT-R mirrors GT-S is through its under hood configuration .

2. The car houses the same 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 mill but here it is tweaked for producing more power and torque.

3. The above-mentioned mill in 2018 GT-R churns out 585 PS of maximum power and 699 Nm of peak torque.

4. The said engine is paired to 7-speed dual transmission that sends power to rear wheels and gives it potential to go from 0-97 kmph in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 318 kmph.

Launch

1. The car, for now, was only showcased at 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed and is expected to launch first in the US market and that too in mid-2017.

2. As for the Philippines market, we are not expecting the car to arrive anytime soon before 2018.
