2018 Volvo XC60 revealed for the local market
MANILA: Volvo Philippines is all set to introduce the upgraded version of one of its premium crossovers. This is confirmed from the official preview of the next-generation XC60, which is set to launch at the brand’s Crayfish Party in partnership with the Nordic Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines. The updated XC60 features a much more aggressive stance with a host of new features to make it even more competitive in the respective segment.
Chris Yu, Marketing Head of Volvo Philippines said, “ Volvo Philippines is proud to give the market a glimpse of the new XC60, and we are confident this Volvo will once again be a strong player in the segment.” The next-generation Volvo XC60 was first revealed at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show and resembles the flagship model of the company, the XC90. The front highlights the new uniform grille accompanied with signature Thor’s Hammer LED headlights.
The side highlights the five-spoke alloy wheels that are redesigned to suit the overall design in an effective manner. Completing the design are present the distinct taillights that have become the defining statement for the crossover now. The cabin is quite familiar to the previous generation and no major changes are done. You will find a big tablet in the center which will take care of navigation and entertainment needs. Apart from the standard features, the system also comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The use of fine leather on the seats and soft-touch materials accentuate the overall design in an effective manner.
In addition, the XC60 gets a four-zone automatic climate control with separate controls for the rear occupants. One of the highlighting features of XC60 is its Oncoming Lane Mitigation that helps in avoiding the head-on collision by activating ‘Steer Assist’, which is a part of Volvo’s City Safety System and also works with Blind Spot Indication System (BLIS). Also, there is Pilot Assist to give semi-autonomous driving assistance to the all-new Volvo XC60.
In terms of engine options, there are four choices. The first is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel that delivers a maximum power output of 190 PS and peak torque of 400 Nm. Next in the lineup is a D5 turbo-diesel that puts out 234 PS maximum power, which is a result of PowerPulse. The gasoline engine includes T5 and T6 with a displacement of 2.0-litre. The former delivers 254 PS of maximum power while the latter comes with a supercharger that allows to put out 320 PS of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque.
Volvo Philippines has already started accepting the bookings of the all-new Volvo XC60 and the launch is expected to take place soon later this year.
