2023 Toyota Yaris facelift gets angular face, new infotainment

MANILA: The debut of the new Toyota Vios generation on a global scale is big news, since the platform of the outgoing model dates back to 2013. It is also the first truly all-new model in a very long time, but despite finally receiving a complete makeover — the Yaris, the sedan’s hatchback twin, particularly the Asian-market version — continues to use the old chassis. To make up for it, Toyota somewhat updated the compact hatch for the 2023 model year.

2023 Toyota Yaris Redesign

The headlamp clusters on the redesigned 2023 Toyota Yaris are far longer than they were before, and the front bumper has undergone a complete makeover to include the smaller grille and enlarged center aperture. The new visage, to put it mildly, may polarize opinion. The fenders and hood are unchanged despite the significant modification up front.

The rest of the Toyota Yaris' body has only received minor updates for 2023. It receives a new set of wheels, more diffusers for the rear bumper, and an updated tailgate spoiler. For this minor model update, the door skins, quarter panels, and tailgate remain the same.

2023 Toyota Yaris Interior and Features

Regarding the interior, it is virtually the same as the present model. All owners of Vios and Yaris should be able to recognize the dashboard because it hasn't changed much since 2018. The 2023 Toyota Yaris, however, has a larger touchscreen that protrudes from the center and is installed. A minor modification to the instrument cluster is also made, with new colored multi-information located next to the speedometer.

2023 Toyota Yaris Engine

The facelifted Yaris has a 1.2-liter, four-cylinder engine rather than the typical 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter options, at least for the Thai market. The 1.2-liter engine is capable of producing 90 horsepower and 109 Nm of torque. A 1.3-liter engine with 97hp and 123Nm powers the subcompact built to Filipino specifications. A CVT is the only possible transmission.
