9th PIMS: Chery Auto PH launches all-new Tiggo 2 Pro

MANILA: Chery Auto Philippines (CAP) unveiled the updated Tiggo 2 Pro at the 2024 Philippine International Auto Show (PIMS). 

The compact but well-equipped Tiggo 2 Pro entered the market at a price ranging from P708,000 to P818,000. As such, it remains one of the most affordable crossover models offered by the Chinese marque’s local arm. 

On the outside, the refreshed ride sports a slick-looking exterior, which is complemented by halogen headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, satin silver roof rails, and 16-inch gunmetal finish alloy wheels. 

The interior of the five-seater ride, on the other hand, received a modern cockpit fitted with a 10.25-inch central touchscreen and analog gauges paired with a 3.5-inch digital multi-information display. 

Providing added comfort and convenience for the Chery-made crossover’s occupants is a wireless smartphone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, leather upholstery, a push-to-start button, and a keyless entry system - among others.

Handling safety for the Tiggo 2 Pro is a comprehensive kit of features listed here:

• ISOFIX child seat anchors
• Vehicle anti-theft with engine immobilizer

Under the hood of the updated Chery model is a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline mill capable of outputting 114 horsepower (hp) and 143 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. Power is sent to its front wheels through a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). 

Each purchase of the Tiggo 2 Pro also comes with CAP’s extensive Premium Preserv package. It includes a five-year or 150,000-kilometer (km) warranty (whichever comes first), a free roadside assistance service covering three years, and a free periodic maintenance service package covering one year or 20,000-km.

Chery Tiggo 5X Pro preview

Apart from officially introducing the updated Tiggo 2 Pro, CAP also teased the new Tiggo 5X Pro at the 2024 PIMS. 

It is not yet available for the local market, but it has several qualities prospective crossover buyers might want. 

For instance, its top-spec Hybrid version’s 1.5-liter turbo and 48-volt belt-starter generator combo can produce up to 153 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The said powertrain is paired with a CVT. 

Similar to the smaller Tiggo 2 Pro, the Tiggo 5X Pro utilizes a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

Other notable features of the yet-to-be-launched model include wireless smartphone charging, a power sunroof, a 360-degree view camera, ambient lighting, and many other creature comforts. 

For now, CAP is yet to provide an exact launch date for the Tiggo 5X Pro, but the marque says it will be introduced next year.
