A New Kia Soul EV-e, Base Model

MANILA: The South Korean automobile manufacturer, Kia Motors Corporation is all set to come up with a new base trim known as EV-e which will be joining the former entry level Soul EV and the top model Ev+. The said model is alleged to slash the electric car's starting price by some $ 2000, making us think that happiness does not only dwell in soul but also rides on Soul.

Even though it is a base model still it would provide the affordability and versatility with its standard features like 3.5-inch OLED Supervision cluster, smart key with push button start, heated front seats, heated leather wrapped steering wheel, two charging ports, six-speaker audio system, and special driver's side ventilation function for the HVAC system.

Kia is also doing some additions in its popular EV+ where it comes with a new Sun and Fun package. This package includes a panoramic sunroof, LED interior lighting and speaker lights that dance to the beats of the six-speaker audio system. Both these features were there in the gas powered Soul but are completely new for the electric hatchback. More, all 2016 EV models will offer two new exterior colors; Bright Silver and Shadow Black as well.

Untouched is the Soul EVs powertrain, a 27 kWh lithium-ion battery powered electric motor generating 109 HP of power and 210 pound-feet of torque. With the same mill the performance figures also remain the same i.e. marking top speed of 90 mph and touching 60 mph from standstill in a span of 11.2 seconds.

With rivals like Chevrolet Spark E, Volkswagen E-Golf, Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus Electric and many more, the brand Kia with its 2016 EV-e will not only win some buyers but will surely be able to create a hatch place in the hybrid competition.
