Araneta City puts up EV charging stations

MANILA: Araneta City has started putting up charging stations for  electric vehicles (EV) within the parking areas of its commercial centers and office towers.

The firm placed EV charging stations at the basement parking of Cyberparks 1 and 2 as part of its commitment to promote sustainability. The hub in Cyberpark 1 can simultaneously juice up two EV units while the area allotted in Cyberpark 2 has three EV slots.

Each station comes with Level-2 chargers with five-meter Type 2 connector cables and a three-phase grid power supply.

Per the information shared to Zigwheels Philippines, Araneta City  shall put up more EV charging stations in other establishments within the vicinity — specifically in Gateway Malls 1 and 2 as well as the soon-to-open Cyberpark 3.

“Araneta City continues to transition into a sustainable and environment-friendly community by implementing green initiatives like the EV charging stations. It is a step to keep the City of Firsts future-proof and adaptive to the evolving needs of times," Araneta City Senior Vice President for Operations Antonio Mardo was quoted as saying.

The aforementioned initiative is among the “green” programs that Araneta City has conducted. Earlier, the company installed solar panels at Cyberpark 1, green building design elements in Cyberpark 2, adopted the LEED standards in Cyberpark 3, took advantage of geothermal energy to power Ali Mall, as well as the launch of Green and Go e-shuttles.

"Through these initiatives, the City of Firsts supports the current push to reduce carbon footprint and adopt eco-friendly lifestyle options," Mardo concluded.
