BYD unveils next-gen Atto 3

MANILA: BYD has unveiled the next-generation Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) all-electric crossover at Auto China 2026. 

Known as the Yuan Plus in markets outside the Philippines, the all-new iteration of the compact five-seater is said to come with better batteries with more capacity, more interior features, and faster charging. It likewise wears a new design that aligns it better with more recent nameplates from the Chinese manufacturer.

Next-gen BYD Atto 3: vehicle specs

Propelling the BYD Atto 3 are two distinct setups. One uses a 57.54-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, whereas a higher-spec trim comes standard with a 68.55 kWh battery. Notably, both are BYD’s latest Blade Battery, which provides a China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC)-indicated range of up to 630 kilometers (km). 

At maximum, the one with the 68.55 kWh battery can generate up to 326 horsepower. For now, however, no torque figures were provided by the brand. 

Per BYD, charging the model from 10-70 percent can be done in just five minutes. This is thanks to the brand’s Flash Charging technology, which it has already rolled out for the Chinese market. 

One of the bigger changes found on the next-generation BYD Atto 3 is how it looks. Specifically, it received a sharper-looking front fascia with more angular details on its front bumper. 

The all-new model pretty much retains the typical crossover silhouette, complete with black plastic claddings and a relatively high-riding roof. Its rear design, however, was likewise revamped with a new LED taillight paired with a quieter-looking bumper. 

For now, BYD has not published a complete list of interior features, but the company’s live-streamed presentation at Auto China 2026 indicates that the five-seater EV crossover comes with the following amenities: 

• Panoramic sunroof
• Perforated leather seats
• Column-mounted stalk-type shifter
• Adjustable front passenger seat legrests
• Front seat power adjustability
• Floor rear cabin storage
• Ambient lighting
• Tap-activated power front trunk
• Head-up display

Other noteworthy amenities found inside the vehicle include a 15.6-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment display, a 50-watt wireless charging pad, a digital gauge cluster, and a trunk that can swallow up to 700 liters of cargo. 

Safety-wise, the model was indicated to come with a wealth of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), as indicated by the presence of a LiDAR array on its roof. Also present on the vehicle is a tire-blowout safety system, BYD’s DiSUS-C intelligent damping control system, and the brand’s iTAC 2.0 or “Intelligent Torque Adaptation Control”. 

Of course, the Chinese market will get first dibs on the next-gen BYD Atto 3, but we are also hoping it will reach our shores in the near future.
