BMW PH brings in all-new M5, M5 Touring PHEVs

MANILA: BMW Philippines — under the stewardship of SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation — has brought in the seventh-generation M5 saloon and third-generation M5 Touring station wagon. 

Now with an electrified system, which is a first for the nameplate in the Philippines, the two M5 models combine powerful performance with a distinctive, athletic design.

“Today, we’re not just launching a car… we’re unveiling a symbol of innovation, passion, and relentless pursuit of driving pleasure. The new M5 truly embodies everything that is BMW, performance, luxury, cutting-edge technology, and design that is just there to thrill and inspire everyone. The M5 is the cornerstone of our global strategy, showcasing our engineering prowess and commitment to high-performance vehicles,” SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation President Spencer Yu said during the launch of the two new vehicles. 

“In the Philippines, M will always hold a special place in our hearts, representing one of the pinnacles of automotive design and reinforcing our leadership in the premium segment… Today, we are incredibly proud of what the new M5 is — and we are confident that this will redefine the expectations in the high-performance segment,” he added.  

Hybrid powertrain 

Under the hood of the BMW M5 and M5 Touring is a 4.4-liter V8 engine with hybrid technology, paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.

The all-new BMW M5 and M5 Touring both have a top speed of 305 kilometers per hour (kph) and can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kph in 3.5 seconds. 

In all-electric operating mode, the new cars can hit speeds of up to 140 kph. 

Range-wise, the all-new BMW M5 can drive up to 69 kilometers (km) while the M5 Touring can run on electric power only for up to 67 km.  

Exterior equipment 

Here are some exterior appointments shared by the BMW M5 and M5 Touring: 

• Newly-designed BMW M kidney grille with BMW Iconic Glow lights 
• Quad pipes with two-section split diffuser
• 20- and 21-inch double-spoke M light-alloy wheels in 952 M Bi-color Black with mixed tires 
• Adaptive LED headlights with high beam assist 
• Automatic tailgate 
• M Carbon mirror caps 

Interior appointments 

Below are the cabin features that can be found on both models: 

• M-specific control panel on the center console
• Newly-designed flat-bottomed M leather steering wheel with illuminated M buttons
• M multi-function seats
• BMW Widescreen Display

Pricing

The all-new BMW M5 and M5 Touring get a sticker price of P12.79 million. 

“The team has worked hard to bring you a car with literally every option included, and at a price that is, effectively, today, approximately 20 percent lower than the previous M5. We need to thank the hybrid mill for that, and also bringing the M5 to a whole new customer segment, making it more attainable to more enthusiasts,” Yu noted.
