BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport officially enters PH

MANILA: SMC Asia Cars Distributors Corporation — distributor of BMW vehicles in the Philippines — has officially debuted the all-new X3 30e xDrive M Sport sport utility vehicle (SUV) for the local market.

Specifically, the model that was brought in is the next-generation G45, which was initially introduced globally back in 2024. The G45 effectively replaces the older G01 model while being slotted below the larger BMW X5. 

Introduced with the full model change is a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain and a host of improvements for creature comforts and onboard technologies.

Exterior

For its appearance, the newly launched Philippine-spec X3 received a more modern look. Its front end is particularly eye-catching, thanks to angular details and the “BMW Iconic Glow” surrounding its sizable dual kidney grille. The aforementioned are complemented by a vented lower front bumper and sharply styled LED daytime running lamps. 

The side of the vehicle received smooth contours coupled with expansive doors for easy ingress and egress. The said doors have flush door handles, as well as a generously wide greenhouse enhanced by the black-colored BMW Shadowline trim. 

Despite having less sharp corners than its predecessors, the model has some measure of angular kinks found on its wheel arches and on its M Sport 20-inch wheels. Its rear section, meanwhile, was fitted with T-shaped taillights, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a black-colored rear diffuser. 

Notably, the all-new X3 30e xDrive M Sport also comes with automatic headlamp functionality, power-folding side mirrors, a power tailgate, and roof rails.

Available colors for the electrified BMW X3 for the Philippine market are Alpine White, Arctic Blue Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Dune Gray, Sophisto Gray Metallic, M Brooklyn Gray Metallic, and M Fire Red Metallic. 

Interior

Step inside the all-new X3, and you will be surrounded by a plush cabin upholstered with M Veganza leather. The vehicle’s interior space was likewise enhanced further with a lot of suede inserts, polished metallic decorative bits, and plenty of slick but distinctive BMW design beats. 

For its digital screens, the all-new X3 was equipped with a 14.9-inch BMW curved central display paired with a 12.3-inch digital gauge. The main display is linked to a 15-piece Harman Kardon speaker set and is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also present inside the ride is a wireless smartphone charging pad and an ambient lighting system.

To note, the central screen depends on the car brand’s latest iDrive Operating System 9, which allows for nifty features such as touch optimizations to reduce mis-inputs, live widgets, video streaming, and many others.  

Keeping the interior of the BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport cool is a triple-zone automatic climate control system, but if the aforementioned isn’t enough, the model also has window blinds. 

The driver and front passenger, on the other hand, both have access to electronically-adjustable and heavily bolstered sports seats. Also present in the cockpit of the newly launched Bimmer are the following driving amenities:

• Push-to-start button
• Dial-type auxiliary control for the touchscreen
• Electronic parking brake
• Flat-bottom steering wheel

At default, the BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport has a trunk space of 450 liters. With the rear seats folded down, it can provide up to 1,500 liters of cargo space. The rear seats also come with a 40:20:40 split-folding feature for extra versatility. 

Safety

Apart from the standard safety gear expected from a modern automobile, the BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport comes with an extensive suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS).

Included in the model’s ADAS kit is an adaptive cruise control system with stop and go functionality, autonomous emergency braking, a 360-degree view camera, lane change assist, steering assist, and blind-spot monitoring.  

Powertrain

Under the hood of the recently launched BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engine paired with an electric motor, a 19.7 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, and an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. At maximum, the said PHEV system can generate up to 299 horsepower and 450 Newton-meters of torque. 

Thanks to its beefy electrified powertrain, the latest X3 version for the Philippine market can accelerate from zero-100 kilometers per hour in just 6.2 seconds. 

Additionally, the model has an electric-only mode that can cruise up to 90 kilometers, at least according to the standards of the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure. Additionally, the model can be charged using an AC port.

Extra performance from the ride can be squeezed out via its new “E-Boost” feature. Specifically, its electric motor can provide a surge of power lasting 10 seconds, resulting in faster acceleration. 

Ride quality and handling for the model is handled by adaptive suspension. It also depends on M-specific brake calipers, as well as front and rear disc brakes for stopping power.

Price

As of its launch, the all-new BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport retails at P4.79 million. Included in the aforementioned sticker price is a five-year vehicle warranty and an eight-year warranty for its batteries.
