Jaecoo PH highlights J5 BEV’s off-road capabilities 

MANILA: Jaecoo Philippines, the sister brand of Omoda Philippines, has highlighted the off-road capabilities of the J5 BEV (battery electric vehicle). 

To note, the aforementioned model just made its Philippine debut last month at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show, and its all-electric powertrain is now being touted as a system suited to make the Jaecoo J5 BEV an “outdoor travel companion.”  

“This is not just a pure electric SUV (sport utility vehicle); it is an ‘outdoor travel companion’ combining robust power with refined character, redefining the performance benchmark in the A0-class pure electric market,” Jaecoo Philippines wrote in a press release. 

On that note, here is a quick look at the features that make the all-electric iteration of the Jaecoo J5 a vehicle that makes it more than just a pavement princess.

Dimensions 

The Jaecoo J5 BEV has an overall length of 4,380 millimeters (mm), an overall width of 1,860 mm, and a height of 1,650 mm. Wheelbase is at 2,620 mm, and it clears the ground by 174 mm. 

Further, it has a 20-degree approach angle, a 29.8-degree departure angle, and a wading depth of approximately 450 mm. 

Per Jaecoo Philippines, the J5 BEV benefits from the brand’s “off-road heritage,” and the above numbers are to allow the vehicle to “traverse complex road conditions” such as wet grass and unpaved surfaces “with ease.” 

As such, light off-road exploration — the local wing of the Chinese carmaker pointed out — is becoming a “new normal” for electric travel. 

V2L 

Vehicle-to-load, aka V2L, is an electric car feature that allows the automobile to use its battery to charge other electronic devices. 

In the case of the Jaecoo J5 BEV, the said feature turns it into a “mobile power base.” With a 3.3-kilowatt external discharge rate, it can meet the needs of many outdoor enthusiasts, such as cooking a camp meal, as well as powering other equipment like fans and lighting. 

Additionally, the newest addition to Jaecoo Philippines’ stable is fitted with a one-touch camping mode, which the marque explained lets the car adapt to various camping scenarios. This, combined with spacious interiors and flexible storage designs, further enhances freedom for travel, making every outdoor exploration relaxed and enjoyable. 

Electric drive 

Propulsion for the Jaecoo J5 BEV comes from an electric drive system that generates a maximum power output of 201 horses. As with all electric vehicles, power delivery will be almost instantaneous, with drivers experiencing a “swift and direct” response when they step on the pedal. 

Acceleration from zero to 100 kilometers per hour happens in 7.7 seconds. 

On that note, the electric powertrain makes starts and overtaking crisp and adds driving pleasure to both city navigation and outdoor adventures. 

It also uses a 60.4 kilowatt-hour battery pack that provides a range of 420 kilometers, which, per Jaecoo Philippines, meets the dual needs of daily commuting and weekend short-distance off-roading. 

Charging from 30 to 80 percent can be achieved in 28 minutes using a fast charger.
