Cavitex C5 Link Flyover extension is now 95% complete

MANILA: Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) Executive Director Atty. Alvin Carullo inspected the ongoing construction of the Cavitex C5 Link Flyover extension (Segment 3A2: Merville to E. Rodriguez Ave.) of Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) and its joint venture partner, Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA).

The TRB's inspection team, along with CIC representatives, checked on the progress of the 1.6-kilometer flyover extension, which will soon connect to the operational 2.2-kilometer Cavitex C5 Link flyover, allowing easy access for vehicles going to SLEX/C5 from Merville and vice versa. The segment is already more than 95% completed.

The traffic management plan for the area once the extension opens was also addressed during the inspection. For smoother traffic flow, the Merville entry and exit ramps will be relocated in front of Shell C5 Southlink. In collaboration with local authorities, traffic signalization and signages will be put into place to help control traffic for motorists going to the expressway and those using the service road.

In a statement, Atty. Carullo said, “We are pleased to see the progress of the Cavitex C5 Link. We look forward to it serving an estimated 15,000 motorists, helping lessen their travel time from SLEX to Pasay, Taguig and Paranaque, thereby helping decongest some of our local roads.”

Meanwhile, construction on its other segment, Segment 2 (Cavitex R1 Expressway to Sucat Interchange), is well underway, with more than 30% of the project completed. Motorist travel time between Cavitex and its Sucat Interchange will be reduced by up to 30 minutes once this segment connects the two areas, avoiding traffic from Sucat Road and Quirino Avenue.

“With Cavitex C5 Link flyover extension opening soon, we urge our motorists to have an Easytrip RFID installed and use it when traveling through our expressways, such as Cavitex and Cavitex C5 Link for seamless travel, and avoiding long queues at the cash lanes,” CIC President and General Manager Raul Ignacio stated.

Cavitex C5 Link Customer Service Center offers free RFID installation and reloading services to encourage motorists to use its RFID services. The 7.7-kilometer expressway is expected to serve over 50,000 motorists once the entire Cavitex C5 Link project is completed in 2023. It will cut travel time from Cavitex to Makati, Taguig, and Pasay in under 45 minutes, while also helping to relieve congestion along EDSA, MIA Road, Roxas Boulevard, and other major thoroughfares.

CIC is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road development division of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC). Aside from Cavitex and Cavitex C5 Link, MPTC also owns the concessions for Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector Road, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
