Cavitex C5 Link Flyover Extension to open this month

MANILA: Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) and joint venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) are working closely with their grantor Toll Regulatory Board to open the Cavitex C5 Link Flyover Extension (Segment 3A2: Merville to E. Rodriguez) in the next two weeks.

The flyover extension will add an additional 1.6 km to the 2.2-km operational segment of the Cavitex C5 Link that runs from Merville to Taguig (and vice versa), giving motorists easier access to Taguig, Pasay, and Parañaque while also reducing congestion on nearby roads.

The Merville Entry/Exit ramps will be moved to the new segment, in front of Shell C5 Southlink, once it is operational. A service tunnel road will also be open to help with traffic management for motorists heading to Merville, Pasay, and Parañaque from the West Service Road.

CIC's final leg of work on this segment is the installation of traffic signs to guide motorists on the area's new traffic flow when it opens. Traffic signalization will soon be placed in the area for better traffic management.

Construction of the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 2 (Cavitex to Sucat Interchange) is still underway and is already more than 30% complete.

In a statement, CIC President and General Manager Raul Ignacio said, “The Cavitex C5 Link will span a total of 7.7 km and connect to Cavitex in 2023. This will help reduce travel time by 30 to 45 minutes for motorists traveling from Cavitex to Makati, Taguig, and Pasay (vice versa). This project also helps decongest major thoroughfares such as EDSA, MIA Road, etc. benefitting around 50,000 motorists daily.”

In preparation for its opening, CIC also steps up its campaign to encourage motorists to use the Easytrip RFID and enjoy more convenient travel.

“We continue to offer free RFID installation and reloading at our customer service stations in Cavitex and Cavitex C5 Link. They may also conveniently reload and monitor our expressways’ traffic conditions by using our latest app, MPT DriveHub. With the help of the app and by using their RFIDs, they would be able to avoid long queues at the cash lane and have a more seamless travel in our expressways,” Ignacio added.

CIC is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road development division of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC). Aside from Cavitex and Cavitex C5 Link, MPTC also owns the concessions for Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector Road, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
