GAC Motor PH outpaces H1 2024 industry sales growth

MANILA: GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group Company) Motor Philippines outpaced the local automotive industry sales growth for January-June 2024.

As shared during the GAC Motor Midyear Dealer Conference, Astara Philippines (the Chinese automaker’s local distributors) shared that it sold 1,702 units for the first half of the year — reflecting a 172-percent rise over the 625 units retailed for the same period in 2023.

For June alone, the company — through its dealer network — sold 351 vehicles nationwide.

Driving the sales for the initial half of 2024 is the GS3 Emzoom, which accounts for 64 percent of the brand’s overall sales in the country. To note, the said vehicle was only launched locally about a year ago.

After such performance, GAC Motor Philippines has climbed to 12th place in the overall market share and the third best-selling Chinese vehicle brand in the country — based on the latest Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated report.

“Our GAC Motor Philippines team has shown unstoppable momentum as we continue to achieve new milestones and break new ground across the country. We are immensely grateful for the warm support of new customers and are eager to deliver the outstanding mobility solutions that GAC Motor offers to even more Filipinos,” Astara Philippines-GAC Motor Philippines Brand Head Franz Decloedt said.

“Achieving our goal to rank third in prominence by the half-year mark is a testament to our efforts, and we are determined to make 2024 an even more successful year. Leading the charge are our nameplates that have become Filipino favorites, the GS3 Emzoom and M6 Pro, along with our other offerings,” he added.

The GAC GS3 Emzoom — which breached the 1,500-unit sales milestone in less than a year since its unveiling — features advanced safety systems, a user-friendly infotainment system, and sleek design.

Meanwhile, the recently-introduced GAC M6 Pro comes with premium features, spacious interior, fuel efficiency, and family-oriented design — matched with a competitive price tag.

Relatedly, Decloedt bared that the firm is set to bring in six models over the course of six months to expand its portfolio as well as reinforce its presence in the Philippine market.

"These models we will launch in the second half of 2024 truly embody the brand DNA of GAC Motor and reflect our commitment to excellence and innovation," Decloedt claimed.

"We aim to provide our customers with a full array of vehicles that seamlessly blend advanced technology with superior craftsmanship, staying true to our new tagline, Where Craft Meets Technology."

Further, the Astara Philippines also welcomed the newest outlets under eight dealer-partners that helped grow their network.

Joining the ceremonial signing of dealer agreement at the conference last July 10 were:

Aside from that, GAC Motor Philippines opened new dealerships in San Fernando, Pampanga, Iloilo City in Western Visayas, Sumulong Highway in Cainta, Rizal and General Santos City in Mindanao.

The company vowed to open more dealerships within the year specifically in Bonifacio Global City, Sucat, Zamboanga, Tacloban, Santa Rosa, Fairview, Bacolod, Kawit, Congressional Avenue, Mindanao Avenue, and Valenzuela City.
