“Poised to establish a comprehensive lineup spanning entry-level essentials, mid-to-premium refinement, and elite luxury, GAC is bringing its unmatched global blueprint directly to Filipino families and corporate clients,” the company wrote in a press release.
“Recognized as an industry leader and China's pioneer in the premium MPV market, GAC is introducing these flagship models to the Philippines as the true “MPV MVPs” of the industry, celebrated for their superior build quality, exceptional long-term residual value, and household dependability,” it added.
Here is a quick look at the nameplates, before they make their official debut.
All-new GAC GN6
GAC Philippines positions the all-new GN6 as an all-scenario seven-seater MPV.
As such, it is touted as a suitable vehicle for growing families. Built around practical everyday use, the all-new GAC GN6 focuses on delivering maximum space efficiency, intuitive safety, and reliable versatility.
It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The setup makes a maximum of 174 horsepower (hp) and 270 Newton-meters (Nm).
A single full tank can go up to 728 kilometers (km) with fuel economy averaging at 14 kilometers per liter.
Suspension-wise, it uses a MacPherson rig at the fore and a torsion beam setup at the rear with stopping power coming from disc brakes all around.
Other notable features include its 10.25-inch instrument cluster, 14.6-inch infotainment system, six-speaker audio system, and suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane keeping assist.
Hauling cargo will also be no problem with the all-new GAC GN6 thanks to its “magic space” trunk that offers 324 liters (L) of luggage space with all seats up, or 1,100 L of cargo capacity when the third-row seats are folded.
GAC E8 HEV
On the other hand, the GAC E8 HEV is offered to families who are in the market for a ride in the mid-to-premium segment.
That said, it offers quality-oriented would-be owners an exceptional, next-generation mobility experience.
Propulsion comes from a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine paired with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. It puts out some 138 horses and 180 Nm of pulling power. The electric motor generates more, with 179 hp and 300 Nm.
A full tank can go as far as over 1,000 km. Like the aforementioned all-new GAC GN6, it also uses MacPherson struts (with an independent suspension system) and torsion beams. Halts and deceleration are facilitated by disc brakes.
Notably, it gets an 8.8-inch instrument panel, a 14.6-inch multifunction touchscreen display, and wireless charging — for added convenience. ADAS system also includes integrated cruise assist, high beam assist, and lane departure warning.
The GAC E8 HEV even features a “super long” wheelbase at 2,930 millimeters (mm), as well as a flexible flat-floor layout offering an incredibly expansive cabin.
GAC GN8 PHEV Executive
Lastly, the GAC GN8 PHEV Executive represents the absolute pinnacle of the company’s engineering. As such, it is built not only for large families with premium needs, but also for corporate clients.
It is driven by a 2.0-liter turbocharged Miller cycle engine aided by a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a two-speed dedicated hybrid tranny. It also employs a 25.5-kilowatt-hour lithium-iron phosphate battery that offers a full electric range of 120 km and a combined range of 1,038 km.
Power figures are at 373 hp and 630 Nm.
The cabin has a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument gauge cluster as well as a 14.6-inch infotainment unit. There are 16 speakers in the vehicle, a wireless charger, and an abundance of ports for juicing up devices.
Would-be owners can expect power seats with ventilation and heating, sunshades, ambient lighting, as well as triple-zone air conditioning with an air filter and a fragrance system.
Safety-wise, it packs technologies like active vehicle dynamic control, fusion automatic parking assist, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
Launch date
The three MPVs from GAC will formally launch on July 29. More details, like pricing and availability, will be reported soon after.
