Geely Motor PH to update GX3 Pro

MANILA: Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) is poised to update the GX3 Pro in the country. 

Homologation documents released by the Land Transportation Office show that two versions of the Chinese carmaker’s crossover have been registered with the agency. 

Much like the soon-to-be outgoing model, it will be offered in two variants: one — now dubbed Pro S (formerly S) — will be fitted with a manual transmission while the other, which now will be called Pro Comfort (previously called Comfort), will sport either an automatic or a continuously variable transmission.

Based on the paperwork, no changes were made to its dimensions as the overall size of the forthcoming crossover is virtually identical to the currently available model. Below are the measurements:

Likewise, the new model will share the same wheel size as its predecessor, measuring 16 inches in diameter. 

In terms of power, the crossover will rely on a 1,498 cubic centimeter gasoline engine with the manual transmission-equipped variant having a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour (kph) and the automatic trim reaching speeds of 170 kph. 

The upcoming Geely GX3 Pro can seat five passengers. 

We are curious to see what updates will GMP give the Geely GX3 Pro. Scanning through the nameplate’s global counterparts, it appears that in the markets where they are sold (like Peru and Egypt), they are still offering the same version sold on the Philippine market today.

Although we are still to hear from GMP, we are hoping that components like the infotainment system (which currently does not support Apple Carplay and Android Auto) could receive an upgrade.
