Green GSM deploys Secure-to-Safety system for its taxi fleet

MANILA: Green GSM, which was introduced for the Philippines just last year, is now adding the “Secure-to-Safe” (S2S) system for the entirety of its taxi fleet. 

Per the transport company, the S2S is a high-tech solution that will provide “structure, clarity, and support when uncertainty arises.” It ensures accountability for the company’s vast number of units plying the country, and it is likewise touted to help ensure safety for both passengers and drivers. 

As mentioned, the S2S is now standard on all Green GSM taxis. It comprises in-cabin and exterior cameras, combined with emergency alert buttons accessible to both drivers and passengers. The driver's button is positioned under the steering wheel, while the passenger's is on the side of the rear seat near the B-pillar.

Vehicles equipped with the S2S are likewise capable of monitoring functions that can identify if something goes wrong during a trip. Plus, it has a “black box-type” data storage system. In other words, it can collect data, but privacy is provided by the system via encryption and time-limited storage.

So yes, data is deleted after a preset period of time. Authorities operating within proper protocols during investigations and the like can likewise request access to the aforementioned data. 

“When there’s a clear system, you know you’re not alone if something unusual happens,” a Filipino Green GSM driver shared. 

“It protects us as much as it protects passengers,” the Green GSM driver added. 

To note, Green GSM’s all-new S2S safety system isn’t the end-all, be-all for safety. Instead, it allows drivers and passengers to respond to emergencies (especially time-sensitive ones) in an organized and quick manner.
