Green GSM e-taxi service to enter PH on June 2025

MANILA: The Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company is set to introduce the Green GSM electric taxi service for the Philippines.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When is Green GSM looking to enter the Philippines?

Green GSM is looking to enter the Philippines in June 2025.
  • What brand of electric vehicle will Green GSM use for its fleet?

Green GSM will use VinFast vehicles for its fleet.
  • A private company founded by VinFast Chief Executive Officer and Vingroup Corporation Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, Green GSM (Xanh SM in Vietnam) is currently The Land of Smiles’ leading tech taxi company. It is already operational in other countries like Indonesia and Laos, and its fleet is composed of all-electric vehicles produced by VinFast.

Per the Vietnam-based transport provider, Green GSM is well suited to the “dynamic urban centers” of the Philippines. Plus, it will also set a new benchmark in the realm of public transport when it comes to “safety and service quality.”

Specifically, the Green GSM shared that thanks to its all-electric VinFast fleet, it can provide quiet, emissions-free, smooth, and odorless car rides.

Additionally, the presence of an all-electric taxi fleet will also have the potential to help reduce the overall carbon footprint of the country’s transportation sector.

Unlike traditional local taxis that need to be flagged down manually, Green GSM’s cars work on a hybrid model that includes manual waving and booking via an app, like a transportation network vehicle service (TNVS).

Moreover, Green GSM drivers will be categorized into two types: either full-time employees of Green GSM who drive its owned electric vehicles and receive fixed salaries and incentives, or drivers who are Green GSM partners, similar to other platforms, though they will be required to own electric vehicles.

Through the forthcoming Green GSM app, users can likewise make advance bookings and view a transparent breakdown of their fare. The two aforementioned qualities of the app are touted to bring peace of mind to future users.

Furthermore, the company has been implementing its S2S active safety monitoring system for all of its cars. The aforementioned, the transport provider claims, is focused on protecting vulnerable groups such as women, the elderly, and children.
