MANILA: Honda Motor Investment Company Limited — the Japanese carmaker’s wholly-owned subsidiary in China — has extended its joint venture partnership with Guangzhou Automobile Group Company Limited (GAC Group).

    40 years of partnership 

    Established in 1998, the extended partnership between Honda and GAC through 2038 marks four decades. 

    GAC Honda is the first Honda automobile production and sales joint venture in China and began automobile production in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province in March 1999.

    The joint venture built a first-of-its-kind “four-in-one” automobile sales and service network in China that was well received by many customers. 

    Per Honda, the partnership has now resulted in cumulative sales of more than 11 million units. As such, GAC Honda has contributed to the development and growth of the automobile industry in China.
