How do Volkswagen Vehicles Work with Cheat Mode on?
MANILA: We all are aware of the recent massive scandal of auto-industry which involves the well-reputed name of this line, Volkswagen. Well, the entire mess is all about the Volkswagen 'Clean Diesel' vehicles which were installed with a software of 'defeat devices' that easily helped to manipulate the emission level. Now, how this auto mogul expertized in this cheating engineering, let's explore.
Well, reports recently tested it by comparing a 2015 Jetta TDI with an older 2011 Jetta Sport Wagon TDI, both of which have been fitted by so-called defeat device. But, in order to 'Cheat mode' to be activated, the cars had to start in a very different way. It requires disabling the rear wheel sensors, turning the ignition 'On' without starting the car and then pressing the accelerator pedal 5 times. (As seen in the video).
The impact of it on performance is not very significant in terms of acceleration, but the brunt came on fuel economy. With Normal mode on, the 2015 Jetta TDI's economy stood at 22.5 km/l and 2011 Jetta Sport Van's fuel economy was recorded at 21.3 km/l. Now, with the Cheat Mode on, the 2015 Jetta read at 21.3 km/l and 2011 Jetta's fuel consumption come as 19.6 km/l. The attention demanding statement of the report is that the Volkswagen cars emit 40 times more pollutants than the US permissible limit of Normal Mode.

This defeat device is used in over 11 million units since 2009 and are traded throughout the world. Talking about the recent development in this matter, Volkswagen has said that they have sold a total of 8 million diesel cars in Europe that are equipped with engines as 1.2 TDI, 1.6 TDI, and 2.0 TDI along with the illegal software.
Based on reports, the 2.0 TDI will only need a software revision while the 1.6 TDI will require hardware modifications. This in all affects 3.6 million 1.6 TDI Volkswagens sold in Europe and include vehicles from its sibling brands such as Audi, SEAT and Skoda.
Coming to some spicy flavor of this scandal, this story of VW is getting the Hollywood treatment by Leonardo Di Caprio along with Jennifer Davisson as producer. Writer jack Ewing will pen the script of the movie and the actors will be announced later. Whoa! That's like having a BEST BAD LUCK Ever!
