Hycan enters PH market

MANILA: Hycan Automobile has officially entered the Philippine market.

The Chinese automotive brand — a joint venture between Guangzhou Automobile Group Company Limited and Guangdong Pearl River Investment Management Group — was brought to the country by Transcorp Group, an affiliate of Sinoequip Incorporated, and Transequip Enterprises.

In time for the official announcement, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer’s local arm also established its first-ever showroom in the country which is located at 88 West Service Road in Valenzuela City.

For its preliminary lineup, Hycan Philippines shall offer three nameplates namely the V09 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), Z03 sport utility vehicle (SUV), and A06 Plus sedan.

V09 specifications

Serving as the biggest among the initial offerings, the Hycan V09 — to be offered in Premium and Flagship trims — is 5,215 millimeters (mm) long; 1,967 mm wide; and 1,910 mm tall with a 3,170 wheelbase.

Up front, the vehicle wears an illuminated logo seated in the middle of the fascia with full-width LED light strip — complementing the chrome elements and the huge housing for headlights with adaptive high beam feature and LED daytime running lights (DRL).

At the side, the Hycan V09 features a fluid body design with matching chrome trimmings on the window panels, door handles and the lower portion of its electric sliding doors. It sits on 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 255/50 tires.

The illumination system at the rear looks similar to its front but with more chrome portions.

Inside, the three-row people carrier welcomes the drivers and its passengers with plush leather seats, suede headliner, and four LED screens all around. They are made up of a 10.25-inch dashboard monitor, 14.6-inch central display, 12.3-inch front passenger monitor, and a 17.3-inch second-row screen.

In addition, it also comes with two sunroofs, a pair of mobile charging docks, smart heating and cooling refrigerators, among others.

Propelling the front-wheel-drive MPV is an electric mill (can deliver up to nearly 271 horsepower [hp> and 335 Newton-meters of torque) mated to a ceramic battery that can cover up to 762 kilometers.

Its myriad of technologies include hill hold and hill descent control, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability program, traction control, comfort regenerative braking system, among others.

The Hycan V09 is priced at P3.788 million.

Z03 specifications

Meanwhile, the Hycan Z03 sports a sleek exterior aesthetics that features an all-LED illumination system. At the lower portion of the front bumper are fog lamps and DRL.

To its side are the hidden door handles, plastic claddings on the door panels, squared body-colored wheel arches and 18-inch fan blade-like wheels. Among the notable items at the back is its rear spoiler.

The Hycan Z03’s cabin boasts a six-way electronically-adjustable driver seat, co-pilot chairs that can be manually altered four way, and a panoramic skylight with sky curtain. At the dashboard are the flat-bottom steering wheel and two digital displays (10.25-inch gauge cluster and 14.6-inch infotainment system). On its center console are a wireless charger and rotary shift knobs.

In front-wheel-drive format, the crossover is powered by an electric motor with an output of almost 2015 horses and 225 Nm of pulling power. The mill allows the vehicle to run 0-100 kilometers per hour (kph) in as fast as 6.9 seconds. It comes with a battery that can cover a range of 620 kilometers.

Offered in Black, Silver, White, Red, and Green (as well as in two-tone options), the Hycan Z03 is priced at P1.688 million.

A06 Plus specifications

Just like the first two models, the Hycan A06 Plus also dons a smooth design matched by the slim headlights connected by a housed LED strip and triangular fog lamps below. It also has hidden body-colored door handles, chromed window panel outline, a gloss-black skirt, and 18-inch alloy wheels in 245/45 tires.

Its simple yet elegant cockpit is furnished with an electronic push start button, a flat-bottom steering wheel alongside the 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel and 14.6-inch infotainment system. Similar to the V09, the Hycan A06 Plus is outfitted with a gearshift lever behind the steering wheel and two wireless mobile chargers.

Its host of amenities include an electric tailgate, rear vents for air-conditioning, and keyless entry system panoramic sky curtain and an electric tailgate.

The Hycan A06 Plus is equipped with a front-mounted single electric motor that has the same churn as the Z03 with a battery that has a range of 520 km.

It also features with technologies such as braking energy recovery system, cruise control, anti brake lock system with electronic brakeforce distribution and hydraulic brake assist, as well as hill hold control.

All three vehicles are expected to be at the Manila International Auto Show 2024 on April 4-7.
