Hyundai art cars tour New York to support Busan’s bid for 2023 World Expo

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Group is having an exhibition and road tour of 20 art cars in New York City to promote the South Korean city of Busan’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo.

The fleet includes the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, as well as the Genesis Electrified G80. The art cars were decorated with graffiti artwork by Korean artist Jay Flow, capturing the vibrant energy of Busan through colorful graphics of the city’s icons and the statement “Busan is ready.”

As the UN General Assembly High-Level Week 2023 happens this week, Hyundai is hosting the art car exhibition at the Genesis House New York.

The art cars are also roaming around the streets of New York until September 22, allowing locals, tourists, and global leaders to see Busan’s majestic culture, forward-thinking mindset, and readiness to host the 2030 World Expo.

Aside from staging art car exhibitions and road tours in major cities worldwide, Hyundai promotes Busan’s bid for the upcoming expo by organizing bid support activities at international events and highlighting the city’s commitment to a carbon-neutral expo with eco-friendly transportation for Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) delegates.

The art cars were first presented during the ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia. They also made an appearance at the G20-related events in New Delhi, India last week. These efforts helped gain more public interest in Busan's bid for the World Expo. The artwork received global recognition, further strengthening support for Busan's bid.

Hyundai is also posting short videos and infographics on social media to promote Busan as the ideal host city. Two of the promotional videos produced garnered over 100 million views within three months, substantially increasing international support for the city’s bid.
