Jeep Grand Wagoneer planned for 2018 launch
MANILA: Jeep is working extensively to expand its line-up and improve its market share across the globe. In this respect, this American automaker is planning to revive the Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer name plate. According to the manufacturer, the Grand Wagoneer will be the flagship SUV, which will be taking on the likes of Land Rover Range Rover, Audi Q7, and Porsche Cayenne. The Grand Wagoneer is most likely to be launched in 2018 as a 2019 year model. Jeep has recently offered its Renegade in the Philippines at the PIMS 2016 and in order to offer more to the Filipinos we expect that Grand Wagoneer will also be introduced in the country.
In 2011, Jeep hinted to introduce the Grand Wagoneer in the year 2014 but, for some reasons it was not launched. Now, Jeep’s head honcho, Mike Manly, revealed the arrival of the flagship SUV during a conference at the ongoing Paris Motor Show 2016. Further adding to this, Manly revealed that the Grand Wagoneer might be priced between $130,000 and $140,000 approximately Php 6.2 million - Php 6.7 million. As the SUV has just entered the planning phase much information is not available about it.
But, speculations suggest that it will be based on the Grand Cherokee platform and is likely to share V6 and V8 engines of Maserati. Let’s wait for the official word from the American automaker and see how this SUV perform in the top-end SUV segment as the competition is going to be very intense. Along with Jeep, Lincoln, Audi, Rolls-Royce, and Mercedes are also planning their flagship model.
