Jeep Renegade Will Debut At 2016 PIMS

MANILA: As the 6th Philippine International Motor Show is approaching near, all the participating automakers have started revealing their prospective launches and showcases at the show. Next in this list is the American automaker, which is known for producing sturdy and potent SUVs since the company’s inception. Yes, after Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, Jeep Renegade is next to mark its presence in the Philippines. Before this, Jeep introduced its Wrangler Cliffhanger Edition at the recently concluded GIIAS 2016 in Indonesia and now it’s time for a new offering to the Filipinos.

 

Focusing on the upcoming Jeep Renegade, it was first showcased at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and has already marked its presence in various markets across the globe. Inspired from the much acclaimed Wrangler, Jeep Renegade is a perfect blend of off-roading and urban driving. Jeep Renegade shares its platform with Fiat 500X and is currently manufactured in Melfi, Italy. Jeep Renegade’s wheel arches are flared aggressively that resembles more to a hatchback than an off-roader. But, the overall design theme is more like the Dodge Hornet Concept which was revealed few years back. The long, flat hood is contemporary and similar to other members of Jeep family. The distinctive square taillights, feature an “X” accent which makes one recall the military jerry can which was found at the rear of the previous generations of Renegade.

Following the ‘Tel-Tonic’ design theme in the cabin, the soft and tactile materials are well intersected with rugged functional details, giving a unique appeal to Renegade. The cabin can be also referred as a smaller version of one seen in the Grand Cherokee with some aspects inspired from the Wrangler. On the amenities front, Jeep Renegade will feature, 7-inch touchscreen display, Uconnect, Parkview reverse camera and electronic stability control.

 

Under the hood configuration is not confirmed yet for the Philippines but, it is expected that like other markets, the Renegade will be offered with 1.4-litre turbo inline-four, 2.0-litre turbo diesel and 2.4-litre naturally aspirated inline-four engine options. Transmission might range from a 6-speed manual, 6-speed dual clutch and 9-speed automatic gearbox. As seen on other Jeep models, AWD system named Active Drive I and five driving modes: Auto, Sand, Mud, Rock and Snow will be also on cards.
