Lamborghini debuts limited-edition Fenomeno Roadster

MANILA: Lamborghini has debuted its most powerful open-top model to date with the Fenomeno Roadster. 

The aforementioned model is limited to just 15 units and represents the latest evolution of the Reventon Roadster, which debuted in 2009.

According to the Italian high-performance carmaker, it also boasts a combination of motorsport-inspired technical details and Lamborghini Centro Stile’s innovative design. 

“Fenomeno Roadster represents the purest expression of our brand values: visionary design, uncompromising performance, and absolute exclusivity. It is a unique interpretation of driving emotion, created for a select group of customers who seek something truly beyond convention,” President and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann said.

“Each example is conceived as a collectible masterpiece, where engineering excellence meets true bespoke craftsmanship,” Winkelmann added.

Powertrain

For its powertrain, the Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster uses a 6.5-liter 12-cylinder naturally aspirated engine paired with three electric motors and an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Altogether, this system can produce up to 1,065 horsepower. 

With the said output figures, the limited-edition open-top can accelerate from zero–100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 2.4 seconds. The brand added that the Fenomeno Roadster can also reach a top speed of 340 kph.

Handling and stability for the Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster are provided by an aerospace-inspired chassis and a set of manually adjustable race-spec shock absorbers. 

Stopping power, on the other hand, is dependent on a CCM-R Plus carbon-ceramic braking system. 

Exterior design

Appearance-wise, the Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster has a slightly tweaked body shape from the Fenomeno Coupe. Specifically, it saw heavily modified portions of its upper sections to accommodate new aerodynamic elements. 

Thanks to these, the brand says that the car can maintain the same level of downforce, stability, and balance as the Coupe version, even with its roof down. 

Moreover, the Italian marque equipped the powerful open-top ride with an additional spoiler to redirect air from the cockpit towards the engine bay for additional cooling. 

Notably, the design of the Fenomeno Roadster also prioritizes safety, as the brand went to great lengths to integrate a set of rollbars that are sturdy enough to support the car’s weight without compromising its aerodynamics. 

Viewed from the side, the Lamborghini Roadster retains the “ultra-flat” wedge shape of the original ride. This is combined with wide air-intakes, shapely hewn fins, and a humongous diffuser on its rear. The vehicle also has an active rear wing for optimal downforce.

Completing the appearance of the Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster is a set of 21-inch front wheels and 22-inch rear wheels. These are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires.

Interior

Regarding its cockpit, the Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster was given a “high-tech aesthetic” that is said to make the driver feel like a pilot. The aforementioned goes together with premium materials, such as carbon fiber, Cortex, and Lamborghini’s very own patented CarbonSkin material. 

Supporting the car’s occupants are two contoured seats fitted with plenty of bolstering. The car's dashboard, meanwhile, features a trio of digital displays (12-inch central screen), haptic controls, and aviation-inspired switches. 

Availability

As mentioned above, Lamborghini is producing only 15 examples of the Fenomeno Roadster. Relatedly, the brand is also keeping mum about the car’s pricing. 

So, the question now is, does the Lamborghini Fenomeno Roadster have a market in the Philippines? For that matter, do we even have a chance to get an allocation?
