LTFRB adds more routes, okays operation of almost 2K PUJs

MANILA: The LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) has opened up 17 more PUJ (public utility jeepney) routes and has approved the operation of an additional 1,943 units.

“Based on the monitoring and coordination with local government units in Metro Manila, there is a need to open additional routes for traditional PUJs to serve passenger demand,” the Board stated in Memorandum Circular 2020-029.

Set to open up officially tomorrow, the 17 PUJ routes and the specified number of PUJs are:

MCU-Sangandaan route                                              -        93 PUJs

Novaliches-Rizal Avenue via A. Bonifacio                      -        606 PUJs

Tandang Sora-Visayas Avenue via Quezon City Hall     -        100 PUJs

 Monumento-Paco, Obando via M. H. Del Pilar              -        117 PUJs

Quirino Highway-Sta. Lucia                                         -        47 PUJs

Crame-Cubao via Murphy                                           -        177 PUJs

Crame-Q Mart via P. Tuazon, E. Garcia                        -        73 PUJs

 SSS Village, Marikina-Cubao, Quezon City          -        38 PUJs

Parang, Marikina-Marikina (TP) via Fortune                  -        100 PUJs

Guadalupe (ABC)-Taguig via Tipas                               -        61 PUJs

Calumpang-Cubao via P. Tuazon                                 -        7 PUJs

Ayala-Guadalupe (Ibabaw) via J.P. Rizal                       -        125 PUJs

PUJs under this new memorandum circular will be allowed to ply their existing routes with no special permit necessary. Operators need only to secure a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or have a pending application for extension of validity of CPC, plus the PUJ itself must be currently registered as roadworthy with the Land Transportation Office and with valid personal passenger insurance policy.

QR codes will still be issued to the PUJ operator and it must be displayed on the PUJ before it begins operation.

“The operator may secure their QR Code by downloading it from the LTFRB website at www.ltfrb.gov.ph starting tomorrow, July 28 at 3PM. Operators are reminded that no fare adjustment shall be applied unless approved by the Board,” the LTFRB said.
