Meet the all-new Kia XCeed

MANILA: It wasn’t as if Kia didn’t have enough SUVs and crossovers in its global lineup but as they say, more is always better. The European portfolio that already comprised of the likes of Sportage, Sorento, Stonic, and Niro, Kia has bolstered it with another crossover, the XCeed. Furthermore, the newest crossover by the South Korean automobile manufacturer has also expanded the family of the Ceeds which now includes the ProCeed, Ceed hatch, Ceed station wagon, and the all-new XCeed crossover.

Yes, the X here indicates the crossover-ish peculiarities of the newest Kia. Just in case you were wondering. Dubbed as an “urban crossover utility vehicle” by Kia, the XCeed is said to have the best of both the worlds, i.e., the agileness of the Ceed hatch and the practicality of an SUV.

Interestingly, the South Korean crossover has been designed at Frankfurt, Germany and will be manufactured at Kia’s facility in Slovakia. Despite being a crossover, the Kia XCeed features a swept-back roofline, much like another German crossover, the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. While we are talking about a swept-back roofline,

Ford has also unveiled its newest crossover, Puma, which is said to replace the EcoSport. Why not check it out? Other elements that enhanced the sporty appearance of the Kia XCeed are the LED headlamps, slim Kia trademark tiger-nose grille, wraparound slim taillamps, and sexy dual-tone alloys.

While Kia claims that only the front doors of the XCeed are shared with its siblings, the crossover is clearly seen to boast quite a similar interior, powertrains, and many other elements to its family members. Something hurts us calling the Kia XCeed a crossover is the crossover’s ground clearance.

At just 174 mm while riding on the 16-inch wheels and 184 mm in the case of the 18-inch wheels, the Kia XCeed is certainly going have a tough time on difficult roads, especially in the Asian continent. But that’s only if or when Kia brings its newest crossover to the region.
