Meet the most extreme McLaren ever, the Senna
MANILA: McLaren has revived one of its prominent names from the Formula One racing history, the Senna, in the form of a new hypercar. This is the most extreme McLaren ever in the manufacturer’s stable and the next flagship hypercar in the brand’s ultimate series. In order to pay homage to one of the most aggressive Formula One drives, the Senna is equipped with ultra-lightweight components, rear-wheel drive, and a twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
The construction of Senna is the strongest ever produced by the manufacturer with a total weight measuring just 1,198 kilograms. The all-new Senna features teardrop shape, clipped body components, and shrink-wrapped body to achieve more downforce and better cooling. One of the striking features of the Senna is its rear wing, which is mounted 1.219 meters off the ground and can be operated hydraulically to achieve optimal downforce.
Powering this marvelous hypercar is a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine that has the potential to unleash a maximum power output of 800 hp of power and 800 Nm of peak torque. The engine is further coupled to a seamless-shift, 7-speed gearbox with a choice between either a manual control using carbon fiber paddle shifters or automatic transmission.
The cabin is quite similar to the McLaren 720S with space for two people without any interior storage compartments, engine start/stop button at the top like a fighter jet, and exposed struts for the dihedral doors, identical to the F1’s doors. All the components like the dashboard, wheel are made up of carbon fiber with a large touchscreen controller as the only high-tech feature of the car.
What is interesting about the all-new Senna is that the car is revealed a few days back and all the 500 units are sold out despite having a whopping price tag of £750,000 (Php 50.6 million) each.
