Mercedes AMG GLC 43 Revealed Ahead of its New York Debut

MANILA: Are you one of those who’ve been swept away by the SUV craze this year? Then is certainly a gala time for you geeks out there as the highly awaited Mercedes AMG GLC 43 has been presented almost a week before its debut at the New York Auto Show 2016. Launched in 2015, the GLC Class SUV was a major milestone in luxury off-road vehicles and replaced the outgoing GLK Class. Although the standard vehicle was extremely well received by fans and critics alike the 2.0-litre diesel drivetrain couldn’t provide a decent enough output to impress the off-roaders. This concern was certainly noted by the manufacturers as the latest version has been presented with a major upgrade to the existing drivetrain and now features a powerful V6 engine.

The GLC 43 4MATIC is also one of the first SUVs developed by the AMG subsidiary of the German carmakers. Being renowned for putting high performance upgrades on Mercedes cars, AMG have outfitted the GLC SUV with several sporty upgrades. The grille now looks even more elegant with chrome accents and gloss black paint. The tailpipes have also been replaced with sporty looking ones. From the inside, the new GLC looks great with the standard sports bucket seats in the front cabin and the highly stylized dashboard. The center console too looks stunning with the free standing touch screen display. Moreover, the 19-inch 5 spoke alloys also look neat, but it wouldn’t be nitpicking if we say that they look pretty standard.

The engine specs for the Mercedes AMG GLC 43 were also revealed by the manufacturers. Unlike the regular version, the AMG model is presented with a gasoline powered twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 that puts out 362 bhp @ 5500 rpm and can reach from 0-100 kmph in approximately 5 seconds. This will certainly prove to be a hard candy to swallow for competitors like the Audi Q5 due to the gasoline advantage over the Q5’s diesel drivetrain.
