Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup trucks revealed
MANILA: When it comes to developing a pickup, a manufacturer either focus on appealing the raw, truck-stuff buyers or adopt a market-friendly approach for a vivid range of customers. But, it looks like Mercedes has evolved something with a blend of both the above-stated formulas. After confirming that the concept will be unveiled on October 25, the German automaker has finally revealed two X-Class pickup trucks concepts. The Powerful Adventurer appeals to the tough, rugged truck buyers while the Stylish Explorer is evolved for the people who wish to move their load in a much stylish and premium manner.
The headlights and front grille both look unmistakably Mercedes-Benz, and the rear is a bit more intense, with a single, wraparound LED design on the Explorer and a more rugged two-light setup on the Powerful Adventurer.
The Explorer does not feature a conventional open load space and instead features a closed trunk while the Adventurer has a standard loading bay.
In the cabin of Explorer, you will be greeted with the finish and features that are quite alien in the pickup segment. The Adventurer, on the other hand, offers a fire extinguisher on the dashboard, only because it is a truck stuff.
On the powertrain front, the manufacturer has not revealed the exact information but, a diesel V6 with all-wheel drive is expected with a transfer case and two differential locks. The payload rating stands at 2,425 pounds while the towing capacity is 7,716 pounds, which is 716 pounds more than the petrol V6 Chevrolet Colorado. The X-Class trucks will be placed in the company’s vans lineup and according to officials, the trucks will mark their entry into the global market in late 2017. It is not clear whether the Philippines will get these trucks but, for the initial phase, these trucks will be offered in the Europe, Latin America, South Africa and Australia.
