MIAS 2026: Newly-launched Changan CS35 Max, upcoming next-gen CS55 Plus in 8 pictures

MANILA: Inchcape Philippines, the distributor of Changan cars in the local market, has officially launched the new CS35 Max at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The brand’s local arm also previewed the next-generation CS55 Plus at the said event. 

To note, the all-new Changan CS35 Max is the updated version of the CS35 for the model year 2026. It promises a slightly sportier character through a revamped exterior look, as well as more driver-centric features. 

On the other hand, the upcoming Changan CS55 Plus is a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV). No dates were mentioned on its local entry just yet, but Changan Auto Philippines did share that it will function as its “primary” PHEV offering.

Changan CS35 Max

The Changan CS35 Max is the updated version of the said nameplate for 2026. It is still a subcompact crossover with a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. 

Under its hood, however, is a more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged Bluecore gasoline engine that’s markedly peppier compared to the old version's 1.4-liter mill. 

At its maximum, the new model can generate up to 180 horsepower (hp) and 300 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, significantly more than the older version’s 158 hp and 260 Nm. 

For its transmission, the new CS35 Max uses a seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission. It also has several driving modes, such as economy, normal, sport, race, and smart. 

Regarding its exterior, no exact numbers were disclosed, but Changan says the CS35 Max has a wheelbase that’s 155 millimeters longer than its predecessor. The aforementioned, of course, means that the vehicle has grown overall. 

Paired with its larger body are LED headlamps with automatic on/off, a set of 18-inch wheels, electronically adjustable and heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and a power tailgate. 

Inside the model is a five-seater layout equipped with leather upholstery, an automatic air-conditioning system, and a panoramic sunroof. These go together with the following: 

• Power-adjustable driver’s seat
• Push-to-start button
• 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster
• Leather steering wheel
• Electronic parking brake with auto-hold
• Smart keyless entry

The model was also fitted with a 10.25-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This display is linked to a six-piece Sony speaker set. Topping up devices, meanwhile, can be done using USB ports or a 12-volt accessory outlet.

Safety-wise, the model comes with dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags, anti-lock braking, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold control, hill-descent assist, rollover mitigation, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX, tire-pressure monitoring, dynamic braking function, and central locking - among others. 

Supporting features include adaptive cruise control, a 540-degree view camera, and a driving recorder (dashcam).

Changan CS55 Plus

The next-generation Changan CS55 Plus was also showcased at the 2026 MIAS. Prior to its appearance at the said motor show, the model was tested by Zigwheels Philippines during a visit to the marque’s headquarters in Chongqing, China. 

As of this publishing, scant details for the model were disclosed by Inchcape. However, the model that we got to try out in China used a 1.5-liter gasoline mill that can produce up to 182 hp and 310 Nm of torque. 

Like most Changan nameplates, the next-gen CS55 Plus also came with a dual-clutch transmission and a front-wheel-drive layout. 

Additionally, it has an abundance of tech, namely a 10.5-inch digital gauge, a 14.6-inch infotainment display, and a full complement of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS).

No other information on the Changan CS55 Plus was shared, but it is slated for a local launch in the second half of 2026.

Apart from the two mentioned above, Inchcape also showcased the recently launched Eado Plus sedan, the Changan Nevo Hunter K50 range-extended electric vehicle (REEV), the Nevo Q05 PHEV, and the Lumin battery electric vehicle.
