MMDA: No Number Coding Suspension on Aug. 25

MANILA: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said that the expanded number coding scheme will not be suspended on Friday, August 25.

In order to make way for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 opening ceremonies at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, Malacañang has ordered that all classes in public schools and work in government offices be suspended on the said date in Metro Manila and the province of Bulacan.

The MMDA has established a multi-agency command center (MACC) as part of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 preparations to allow for a quicker and more well-coordinated traffic management response.

Road works in Metro Manila are put on hold as of August 17, and will resume on September 10.

Mall-wide sales will also be prohibited in malls along EDSA and other areas affected by the FIBA World Cup 2023 in order to make sure that all roads are accessible, clean, and safe for all vehicles and pedestrians during the event period.
