MANILA: Expect that the comeback of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup for this year will be more fun compared to the previous iterations.

The upcoming 2026 TGR Philippine Cup will consist of four legs.Based on a post over its social media page, Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines announced that the event would have four legs (instead of the usual three) that will take place from March all the way to September.
Aside from that, more followers of the local motorsport scene will get to enjoy it on site as the racing series will be held in three different venues.

Further, this year’s event will include a Toyota Tamaraw one-make-race. The package for the unit that will be allowed to take part of the competition is made up of:
- Roll cage
- Bucket seats
- Kill switch
- Race-prepped braking system
- New tires and wheels
- Safety harness
- Upgraded leaf springs and coil springs
The aforementioned portions will be slapped unto a Toyota Tamaraw long wheelbase diesel trim — with the drivetrain to be kept stock. This specific mill has a peak churn of:
- Maximum output: 148 horsepower
- Peak torque: 343 Newton-meters
In a recent engagement with the media, Toyota Motor Philippines President Masando Hashimoto expressed his excitement over the upcoming races — declaring that he will again take part of the event as a competitor amid crashing in one of the races in the previous season.

It can be recalled that during last season’s second race weekend, TMP’s top executive — who was on board the number 4 Toyota Vios race car — figured in a crash after he hit the central wall.
The car suffered major damage, but the cabin remained intact — letting Hashimoto walk away from the incident unharmed.
After completing all three race weekends, the TMP president was able to join the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup winners’ circle after placing second overall in the Novice Class.
