New PH-retailed Tesla Model Y L now slightly faster than previous version

MANILA: Tesla Philippines has updated the Model Y L, making it slightly quicker than the previous iteration.

In a statement, the Austin-headquartered marque’s local arm shared that the six-seat sport utility crossover can accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 4.5 seconds — half a second quicker than the previous 5-second figure. This improvement can be attributed to the acceleration boost update in the system.

Vehicle specifications

While it is now swifter, the Model Y L comes with no price increase, meaning its yet-to-be-delivered units are still retailed for P2.849 million.

Powering the model are two electric motors and an energy bank that provides a 681-kilometer (km) range based on the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) standards. 

Inside, the Tesla Model Y L features first-row seats with power recline, power tilt, heating, ventilation, and thigh extension. It also gets two touchscreens — a 16-inch unit for first-row occupants and an 8-inch display for middle-row passengers — paired with an 18-speaker audio system and a subwoofer.

The vehicle can carry up to 2,539 liters of cargo.

Further, the Tesla Model Y L has the following safety and comfort technologies:

• Heated seats, steering wheel, and windshield
• Air filtration system
• Custom driver profiles with automatic easy entry and exit
• Tinted glass roof with ultraviolet and infrared protection
• Automatic emergency braking
• Forward collision warning
• Blind spot collision warning
• Lane departure avoidance
• App-based remote control

The Tesla Model Y L comes with a four-year or 80,000-km bumper-to-bumper warranty and an eight-year or 192,000-km warranty covering its battery and drive unit.
