Nissan scraps 2020 NISMO Festival
MANILA: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has cancelled the 2020 NISMO (Nissan Motorsport) Festival slated on December 6, 2020 at the Fuji Speedway in Japan.
The annual festival has been the Japanese automaker’s platform to either launch or introduce new vehicles and technologies for current or future implementation across its wide range of vehicles.
Last year, Nissan introduced its latest version of Intelligent Mobility, showcasing the company’s approach to changing how vehicles are powered, driven, and integrated with society, and also presented the all-new Formula E race car and the Leaf NISMO RC.
Festival attendees need to pay admission of around 2,000 yen but aside from all of the above, they also get to watch musical entertainment from Japan’s top artists, experience a ‘time attack’ event with specially tuned GT-Rs and even walk around the owner’s parking area where prized GT-Rs and 370Zs units are on display.
There are talk shows as well, good and memorabilia featuring limited race-used items for sale, and even areas where kids can have fun with their parents.
In a statement, Nissan said “The decision to cancel this year’s festival was made to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of fans, participating teams, exhibitors, and Nissan and NISMO employees.”
Nissan and NISMO aims to use this time to further improve the event for next year and beyond in order to keep fans looking forward to future NISMO festivals.
