No better way to learn origami than from Lexus
MANILA: Lexus, the brand whose attention to detail is second to none, partners with UK-based origami artist/takumi Coco Sato to kick off a new content series for netizens.
Initiated by the brand’s social arm Creates, this series is designed to delight and inform using various subjects related to Lexus’ hallmarks of design and craftsmanship.
“Lexus often seeks unique ways to connect with its audience, beyond the automotive realm. The brand’s human-centric focus and dedication to craftsmanship provide a natural foundation from which to reach out and engage around topics that have already proven to be of interest to our audience. The Lexus Creates series is a perfect example,” said Brian Bolain, General Manager, Lexus International.
The first episode with Coco Sato brings the art, precision, and creativity of origami to life. Along with making pieces like a cat, then a leaf, and then the more complex butterfly, Sato brings her skills to fore along with nuggets of wisdom.
Born in Tokyo and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in London, Coco Sato is well known for turning traditional Japanese aesthetics into art forms using paper, fabric, food, or simple electronics into public origami installations. Her work explores the relationship between human interaction, technology, space, and nature.
By working with Sato, Lexus aims to reinforce the value of creativity and beauty through simple paper forms while elevating the impact of the human-focused skills displayed by the artist.
