Peugeot, now distributed by Astara, launches new 'designed for Asia' 5008

MANILA: Peugeot Philippines is now distributed by Astara, and adds the new 5008 SUV in its lineup. 

Since its inception in 1979, Astara is one of the biggest automotive and mobility distributors both in Europe and Latin America. Astara is expanding in Asia with Stellantis, one of the leading global automakers where the Peugeot brand is housed.

Astara starts its expansion in the Philippines, as the company has seen potential in the market with the local automotive industry slowly recovering.

With a new distributor, Peugeot Philippines plans to introduce four new vehicles, starting with the 5008 SUV. The new 5008 is priced at P2.26 million.

The new 5008 is assembled at the Stellantis manufacturing plant in Gurun, Malaysia. All vehicles built in this plant undergo specific endurance and quality testing to meet the needs of customers in Southeast Asia.

Together with other Peugeot models, the new 5008 successfully endured a combined 300,000 kilometers of testing in the diverse local climate and environmental landscape. 

The new 5008 features a multitude of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which include active blind spot detection, lane keeping assistance, and driver attention alert. 

On the outside, the front end features a frameless radiator grille and full LED headlights with "illuminated fangs” daytime running lights. The full LED rear lights leave a lasting impression with its 3D claws covered with a transparent smoke lens and scrolling indicators.

Featuring a sleek, raised body design, the dynamic stance of the SUV is highlighted with chrome details that extend from the headlights to its rear spoiler. The 18-inch alloy wheels add a final touch.

The 5008 SUV showcases Peugeot's latest generation 1.6-liter turbo engine, which outputs 165hp and 240Nm of pull. This mill is coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission for excellent performance and fuel efficiency.
