Porsche AG board appoints Dr. Michael Leiters as new CEO

MANILA: Effective January 1, 2026, Dr. Michael Leiters will be stepping up as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Porsche AG. Leiters replaces Dr. Oliver Blume, who has been leading the German sports car company in this role for 10 years. 

But while he is due to step down as the Stuttgart-headquartered company’s chief, Blume has yet to bow out of the automotive industry, as he will continue in his role as CEO of the Volkswagen Group. 

“As CEO of Porsche AG, Dr. Oliver Blume has taken great responsibility in challenging times and successfully managed the company,” Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG Dr. Wolfgang Porsche said.

“The Supervisory Board of Porsche AG would like to thank Dr. Blume for his strong commitment. We look forward to continuing to work closely and trustingly with him as CEO of Volkswagen Group,” Porsche added.

According to Porsche, Blume’s years as CEO saw the company hit record-breaking financials - including the company’s successful initial public offering (IPO) back in 2022. Under his direction, the German marque also saw significant expansion across a variety of markets, as well as notable global introductions of the Macan and the 918 Spyder.

Blume also helmed the company throughout the COVID-19 years - a challenge for any experienced automotive executive. 

Blume’s replacement, Leiters, meanwhile, is a noted veteran who has been working for Porsche for 13 years and running. Way before that, he served as Ferrari's chief technology officer (CTO) for eight years.

Leiters’ most recent achievements, on the other hand, are spearheading the launch of the latest versions of the Macan and Cayenne. 

“Dr. Michael Leiters has decades of experience in the automotive industry. His leadership style and in-depth expertise are ideal prerequisites for successfully chairing the Executive Board of Porsche AG. He and the entire Executive Board team at Porsche AG enjoy the confidence of the Supervisory Board in overcoming the current challenges,” Dr. Wolfgang Porsche shared.
