MANILA: In its bid to curb its unauthorized use, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the regulation of protocol license plates to government officials.

Officials with equivalent ranks, the order noted, may be allowed to use based on the recommendation of the Land Transportation Office and approval of the Department of Transportation.
“However, this shall not be construed to authorize all other officials with equivalent rank as the associate justices of the CA, CTA, and Sandiganbayan and below to use the license plates,” the order noted.
They shall have the aforementioned plates during the official’s incumbency and may only be used on the vehicles assigned to them.
The order also noted that all authorized officials may be allowed to have two pairs of protocol license plates, except for the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Supreme Court Chief Justice who can have three pairs.
