Second Recall of the Year: Mitsubishi Philippines Recall Over Airbag Ill Health

MANILA: Mitsubishi Philippines was busy celebrating the holy week when a call from its head office in Japan interrupted all its joy and enjoyment. The intimation that came from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Japan pertained to a possible fault in the airbag inflator. Tagged as one of the key causes of car recalls, most of the car makers from around the world have experienced a recall situation on this front.

The said Mitsubishi recall is second in the row for the Philippines in 2016. The first initiator of the year was Honda Philippines, who recently recalled as many as 19,634 cars that to were subjected to an airbag issue. Though, unlike Honda, Mitsubishi Philippines
move is a proactive one with no surety over the actual existence of the problem. According to Mitsubishi officials, they don't want to take risk both with the company's image and its customers valuable life. The later one carrying more weight, of course.

In the recent times, most of the recalls were attributed to the Japanese airbag manufacturer, Takata. As the same company was the supplier of airbags to all the major auto manufacturing brands, like Toyota, Nissan, Ford and Honda. It's faulty airbags have claimed many lives around the world forcing these brands to spend millions on recalls and free replacement. Though Mitsubishi too was in trading terms with Takata, but we are still not sure whether to blame Takata or not in this case.

Till date, there have been no reported accidents or injuries by Mitsubishi customers and we all highly value company's dedication to serve its customers well. Also, recently Mitsubishi along with Toyota joined the CARS program, to uplift the Philippines auto sector. This scenario adds an added responsibility on Mitsubishi's shoulders.

Mitsubishi Philippines Recall Car 2016 -

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX (2009 -2010)

Mitsubishi Lancer (2006 - 2009)

Mitsubishi Fuzion (2005 -2008)

So, if you have one of these Mitsubishi's standing in your garage then all you have to do is -

• Log on to Mitsubishi Philippines website.
• Add your car's Vehicle Identification Number, to find if it's included in the recall list
• If yes, then schedule a check-up that Mitsubishi ensures will not take more than 2 hours
• If no, then you can surely sit back and relax
