Initiative aims to build technician skills, open new opportunities to mechanics
MANILA: Shell Pilipinas Corporation has concluded the Shell Mekaniko League 2025, marking a milestone that united car and motorcycle experts under one national platform.

Grand winners got P200,000 each and an all-expense-paid trip to watch the MotoGP race in Malaysia.The said event saw Shell’s largest mechanic competition with more than 2,000 participants from 26 provinces.

Building skills, livelihoods
According to Shell Pilipinas Corporation, the Mekaniko League was designed not only to celebrate skill but also to uplift livelihoods. At every stage, participants joined Shell-led training and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-certified modules that prepared them for National Certificate (NC) I and NC II credentials, which will strengthen their credentials and open doors to greater opportunities.
The semi-finals tested mechanics through written exams, parts identification, live repair challenges, and rigorous trials that mirrored real-world scenarios. Semi-final winners each took home P50,000 and advanced to the Grand Finale.

Each received P200,000 as well as an all-expense-paid trip to Malaysia to watch the MotoGP race there together with other finalists.

“The Mekaniko League is one of Shell Pilipinas’ key programs that highlights the skills and dedication of Filipino mechanics,” Shell Pilipinas Corporation Vice President and General Manager for Lubricants Jackie Famorca was quoted saying.
“Through our partnership with TESDA, we are equipping them with the right training and tools to help them adapt to the ever-evolving auto industry,” she added.
Per Shell Pilipinas Corporation, the Shell Mekaniko League 2025 did more than showcase the skills and open opportunities for local talents. It presented the vital importance technicians play in the industry, not only in keeping vehicles roadworthy but also in fostering stronger, safer communities.
