Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid now in PH, priced at P2.498-M

MANILA: Subaru has officially marked its entry in the Philippines’ new energy vehicle segment with the unveiling of the all-new Forester e-Boxer Hybrid.

Revealed locally at the Subaru Club Philippines' Boxer Madness 6, the sport utility vehicle’s latest version will soon replace the current offering that still runs on an internal combustion engine.

said to have combined power, efficiency, and innovation, here are the notable details about the all-new Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid.

Up front, the Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid wears a new grille bordered by pieces of LED illumination. Complementing the aforementioned portion is the new front bumper with discreet honeycomb portions. 

The vehicle's side profile features pointed wheel arches with functional air vents — similar to the ones fitted in the WRX. Aside from that, it is also slapped with black side sills, low profile roof rails, and a set of 19-inch wheels wrapped with 235/50 series tires.  

Being the first hybrid Subaru model locally, the Forester Hybrid  also sports an “e-boxer” emblem — pertaining to the new mill that the vehicle offers.

At the back are these notable portions:

• Roof-mounted spoiler
• Power tailgate with kick sensor
• Rear bumper that looked similar to the design elements at the front

Occupants are welcomed inside the cabin with leather-ultrasuede seats, leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters, an instrument cluster that has both analog and digital gauges, and an 11.6-inch vertically-oriented infotainment system mated to a Harman Kardon sound system. 

Its driver and passengers are kept cool with its dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system. 

As the name suggests, the all-new Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter horizontally-opposed four-cylinder double overhead cam, 16-valve, Boxer engine mated to an electric motor in a symmetrical all-wheel drive layout.

Sending power to the wheels is a hybrid Lineatronic continuously variable transmission with six-speed manual mode.

Such a powertrain combination allows the vehicle to jump to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) from rest in 9.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 182 kph.

Assuring the vehicle’s controllability and comfort vehicle are:

• Suspension system made up of front MacPherson strut and rear double wishbone
• Active torque vectoring system
• Vehicle dynamics control system

The all-new Subaru Forester is loaded with safety and driver-assistive technologies that makes it a future-forward vehicle.

Debuting on the Forester e-Boxer Hybrid is the Subaru Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) — an advanced system that can detect potential emergency through prolonged period of driver inactivity and automatically bring the vehicle to a complete stop and unlock its door. 

Complementing this is the Enhanced EyeSight 4.0 that offers preventive safety functions namely:

• Lane departure prevention
• Lane departure warning
• Lane sway warning
• Autonomous emergency steering
• Pre-collision throttle management
• Lead vehicle start alert
• Pre-collision braking
• Adaptive cruise control

Moreover, its myriad of active and passive features are
